These puzzles are presented with no explicit instructions or objective. That might be to your liking, especially if you have experience with puzzle hunts. Otherwise, highlight the lines below for optional information on how to get started, from least to most revealing:

  1. Each black area on the spreadsheet is a separate puzzle. There are 15 puzzles in total.
  2. The answer to each puzzle is an English word. Puzzles linked by black lines are somehow related, but have separate answers.
  3. One of the 15 puzzles is a "metapuzzle" which requires the use of the answers from the other 14 puzzles. You can consider solving the metapuzzle to be the "goal" of the puzzle set, if you want.
  4. Each puzzle, other than the metapuzzle, is a method of compressing or encoding the physical shape of letters. Therefore, each puzzle, other than the metapuzzle, will involve physically spelling out the word.

I made this puzzle challenge to scratch an itch for puzzles in the style of Wizardoffail and Parachor, creators of Ultraviolet Puzzle Challenge. They started making puzzles in isolation from the wider puzzle hunt community, resulting in a unique style epitomized by colorful, wordless, pixel-art diagrams. Here, I tried to pay homage to the visual language of their puzzles and avoid many of the idiosyncrasies that make puzzle hunts less accessible to newcomers.

This was one of the best rule discovery puzzles i've encountered.

I managed to solve all of them except the second one from the left on the bottom (and looking at the solution... [V jnf abg rkcrpgvat bcrengvbaf lbh pna'g rnfvyl rkcerff va n fcernqfurrg]).

The top-right-most one took some errors to solve, [naq V nyzbfg qvqa'g pbagvahr gb gur guveq vgrengvba]. The second one from the bottom on the left also took a lot of time [orsber v abgvprq gur ercrngvat havdhrarff], the rest weren't very difficult but still very interesting.

Legitimately the most fun I've had with an enigmatic/hunt-style puzzle in a long time! Really loved that every part of it felt approachable, whilst also staying cohesive in theme. Just awesome work all around.

Also I'm delighted to hear that Ultraviolet Puzzle Challenge was an inspiration for this, it's a style that I'm really fond of so it's exciting to be on the receiving end of it for a change!
